RADIATION SAFETY OFFICERS FOR MEDICAL-USE LICENSES

The NRC is giving serious consideration to changing regulations to allow for more than one Radiation Safety Officer to be named on a radioactive materials license.  Under current regulations only one RSO is allowed per licensee.  This would benefit many programs that are more complex and would allow separate individuals to take responsibility for radiation safety in their respective areas of expertise, involvement or responsibility (provided they are qualified).  The change in regulations is formal process so we will have to see how it develops.  The NRC discusses this in a Regulatory Issues Summary, which is referred to as a RIS.  For more information click on this  RIS Titled:
